Start your blog for the price of a tea

When I started to dig into WordPress I struggled a lot to understand what I needed to have in order for me to have a blog or even a website. I remember going through forums and forums and getting one response and another. I was completely lost. Then I started to figure it out and thought that it didn’t have to be complicated.

Since I quit my 9-5 in 2017 to pursue my passion to help others unleash their ideas, I meet many different people and found out that many of you are looking to live this life of traveling and entrepreneurship but too often people start to give up when they are at the setup process. I would like to assure you, creating a simple blog DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PRICEY OR DIFFICULT, you just need to know what you have to do.

First, let’s see what you need to start your digital journey!

We’ll cover each of these to make sure you understand why you need them but also how to get them.

Step 1: You need a hosting

First and foremost you need a hosting, so jump to Bluehost, they are really popular and their customer service is one of the best. If you called them at 2 am with a question about your blog they’ll be happy to help you. I used to call them around 2 am so I know what I’m talking about. However, the main reason why I recommend them is because they are really cheap! 3,95 per month + a free domain, literally the price of my cup of tea!

But what’s a hosting? It’s simply a place where your website will be. So let’s think about your hosting as your house. So to live somewhere you need a house? Bluehost will be yours.

Step 2: Hosting package

As soon as you clicked “get started now”, you’ll have to choose a hosting package. I’ll recommend you the basic plan if you are going to create a simple blog or website. You can still upgrade your plan in the future if needed. Once your plan decided, click “select”.

Step 3: You need a domain name

If you have a domain name just write your domain name on the right if you don’t have one, it’s alright because you get a free domain with Bluehost so unleash your imagination! My advice is to get a name that is relevant to your business. For instance, if you are a planning to write about travel try to pick something similar such as or

By the way, having .com .org .co doesn’t change anything and will not have any impact on your reader or google ranking. It’s just a preference.

What’s a domain name, To make it extremely simple a domain is the name of your website for me it’s for you it could be or, it’s up to you and what’s available. Using the example above it’s the address of your house. Once your domain name chosen, click « next ».

Step 4: Account information

Here you’ll have to enter your personal information.

Step 5: Package information

After you’ve entered your information, you’ll have this window to choose your package.

To keep your cost low, just keep Domain privacy protection ticked, it means that your account information will be private, so I will highly advise you to keep it ticked.

For the rest, there is plenty of free plugins out there that do the job!

Step 6: Payment information

Enter your payment information to complete the registration.

Step 7: Choose your password

Choose a password for your account.

Once you click on “create your password”, you’ll have to type your password twice. Click the box to agree and then click “next”.

Step 8: Congratulations!

Once your account and password are setup click “log in”.

You are now ready to create!

Step 9: Pick a theme

After login in you’ll have to pick a theme, I’ll recommend you to, not choose a theme here because there are not many choices.

So just skip this part! I’ll show you a better place.

First, if you’ve been this far, thumbs up! You did what a majority can’t do!

I think you are ready to download your first theme, just click « start building »

Step 10: WordPress dashboard

Here you’ll see your WordPress dashboard. We’ll first publish your blog, click “Bluehost” in the top left corner.

Here you’ll see your WordPress dashboard. Since you are just starting nobody know your website so you can click “launch”.

Step 11: Name your website

Give your website a title and a tagline for example:

Title: Moe
Tagine: WordPress Consultant

Don’t worry, you can always change this later on.

Congratulation you created your first website!

If you would like to see what it looks like, just open a new tab and write your domain name.

Step 11: Name your website

Now that you’ve got your blog online and you are ready to publish, we need to get you theme that fits your style!

To get a free or premium theme jump to Themeforest.

On their homepage, go to WordPress under web template and start looking for a theme that fits your needs.

Once purchased you’ll need to go back to your bluehost dashboard and go to appearance and click “theme”.

Once there, you just need to upload the zip file you received from Themeforest.

Once purchased you’ll need to go back to your bluehost dashboard and go to appearance and click “theme”.

See, it wasn’t that difficult! If you still have issues at any step don’t hesitate to leave a comment and I’ll be glad to help you!

Let’s unleash your writing skills!
